Why It Matters
Regional Escalation: Houthi strikes against Israel escalate the Gaza conflict into a wider regional confrontation, increasing risks of multi-front destabilization.

Targeting Infrastructure: Ben Gurion airport stands as an indicator of Israel’s intent to target airports as an infrastructure target in order to have both symbolic value and disruption of civilian mobility.

Solidarity and Influence: By portraying themselves as supporters of Palestinians, Houthi attacks reinforce Iran’s “Axis of Resistance”, making stabilizing efforts more challenging.

Cycle of Retaliation and Response: Every missile launch sparks Israeli reprisals, setting in motion an irrepressible cycle of violence that has the potential to draw in additional actors in the region–including maritime trade partners along the Red Sea corridor.

Houthi attacks illustrate the fragility of regional stability as diplomatic channels remain compromised and conflicts overlap, prompting global concern about Israel and its allies responding and whether mediation can withstand this new surge of hostility.
